The Climate Festival
Creating climate action together
What is Klimafolkemødet?
The purpose of the Klimafolkemøde, which can roughly be translated as ‘The Climate Festival’, is to inspire action – both for decision-makers, companies, organizations and citizens. This year’s theme is ‘Climate Action Together‘.
Our ambition is to cement the event as a forum where discussions, talks, workshops, culture and concerts sets the climate crisis on the agenda and to inspire to make changes and create solutions.
The Climate Festival is a non-commercial event, and it’s free to participate both as a visitor or an organiser. The festival has three focus points: public, political and professional.
The Climate Festival in 2024 was the largest so far with 40.000 visitors during the three days the event took place.
The event will in 2025 take place from the 28th – 30st of August at the harbour in Middelfart.
Climate knows no boundries
The international program
The program in 2024 offered around 400 debates, talks, workshops and cultural events.
More than 100 stalls presented solutions, new ideas and inspiration on making a change and creating solutions.
Under the theme: Climate Knows no Boundaries. We created an international program, where we wanted to be inspired and learn from Germany and the US.
We hold the firm belief that we all are a part of the solution, but we must work together to create the necessary changes to stop climate change.
Klimafolkemødet
A little bit of history
The Climate Festival was first held in 2017 as a small local celebration of citizens and organizations, which were making a change and taking climate action.
In 2019 the Region of Southern Denmark and Middelfart Municipality entered into a strategic cooperation agreement to elevate the Climate Festival in Middelfart from a local to a national event.
The aim was – and still is – to create solutions to the climate challenge and inspire citizens, companies and organizations to take action.
The program of Climate Festival is created together with a large number of organizers. The organizers plan and invite speakers to their debates, talks and workshops. Therefore, the Climate Festival has a wide arrange of topics ranging from upcycling of textiles to creating local sustainable energy communities.
The Climate Festival takes place in week 35 from Thursday to Saturday every year.
